Malpeque Oysters
Available: June thru October
Packed in 10 dz. units ~3" in length. This is an oyster contrary to most of our others, as it is grown on the beds of Malpeque and Bedeque Bays in Prince Edward Island, located in Canadian Maritimes, far in northeastern corner of North America. We bring these oysters in as a summer time substitute for the local oysters that get "spawny" during the summer months. This famous oyster has a clean, characteristically "east coast" tough, outer shell, while the meat on the inside is full and firm. An easy-to- shuck oyster due to its hard outer shell, the texture is buttery smooth and the taste is the perfect blend of sweetness and saltiness. A great summer time half shell or grilling oyster for all. |
