Whidbey Island Dance Theatre presents The Nutcracker!

A beloved island tradition is back for its 33rd year! Whidbey Island Dance Theatre is once again bringing The Nutcracker holiday ballet to the stage at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts in Langley this December. This locally produced holiday classic features island dancers of all ages, intricate costumes, and all the magical moments audiences have come to love, from the warmth of the opening party scene to swirling snow and a journey through the Land of Sweets.

It’s a wonderful way for families, neighbors, and visitors to come together and celebrate the season through the arts- don’t miss out on this classic holiday event!

Whidbey Wild Mushroom Tours

Saturday 12/13

Join a guided mushroom foraging tour this winter! The last public group tour of the season is meeting Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the South Whidbey Tilth Farmers Market, with a morning slot (9a–12p) and afternoon slot (1p–4p) available.

Tours begin with an engaging presentation on local mushrooms, followed by a forest foraging walk to identify and discuss wild varieties. Public Group Tour (10 seats available per tour): $75 per person.

Travis Furlanic, is a Whidbey Island-raised forager, educator, and fungi fanatic. After a childhood spent in local forests and on the water, Travis dove into mycology and has spent 15+ years studying, identifying, and teaching about mushrooms. A trusted contributor on citizen-science platforms since 2016, he regularly presents on cultivation, foraging, and identification for libraries and community groups.
